What type of business should I start?

We recently received the following question.

Q. I am planning to start a new business in 2009 but unfortunately have not been able to come across a single potential business idea.

What type of business should I start?

A. I would say that your business is more likely to be successful if you understand your market and you are passionate about your business.

...

Start with where are your interests….Do you like working with people, on a specific task…etc. Where do your skills lie?

You can certainly learn new skills and will most likely have to but it is great when you can start with the base you already have established.

What type of resources do you have for the business? This has a big impact on what you start on.

Perhaps most importantly, what are your values? Once you identify your core beliefs, you can design your goals around those values.

Good Luck!

If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to ask.
