Here in the states, we typically think about business conditions on a local level. While we may not think about it, there is a big world beyond our shores. And while much of the “can-do spirit” is found in small businesses throughout the U.S., we hardly have a monopoly on the concept.
...
Truth is, that many countries are looking to the small business community to boost their economy. The natural question is which countries are the best and worst for starting a new business?
According to an economic activity index developed by the World Economic Forum, best scoring countries are the United States (+2.1) followed by Finland, Singapore, Britain, Hong Kong, Germany, and Taiwan (1.0+). These countries offer the most technical support and best overall environment for small businesses to succeed.
Countries that offered the least favorable conditions are Columbia (-1.3), Venezuela and certain small countries in Asia.
Despite the current economic conditions and other challenges that we face as small business owners, there are still plenty of opportunities to succeed here in the U.S.
Every once in a while it is a good reminder that there is potential when we are bombarded with so much negativity in the mainstream media.
Now go out and make some money!
