Words to avoid in your Email Marketing

I was reading an article with tips by Keith Martin.

he five points that were shared in the article is that spam filters work by identifying certain words. So for the novice (or even not so novice) email marketer it would be nice to know what words should be avoided.

Well ask and you shall receive. Below are a list of words to eliminate from your emails.

...

These are words that will almost certainly have the spam filters working against you:

* Marketing
* Market
* Free
* Bonus
* Plan
* Click
* Click here
* Advertising
* Ads
* Sales
* Selling
* Shop
* Shopping
* Package
* Save
* Save money
* Savings
* Insurance
* Discount

There are some other great tips in the article which is a pretty good and quick read but I thought I would share this to help you with your email efforts.

Along with these words to avoid, I would also suggest using a modicum of common sense. Avoid crushing your recipients’ email box with too many messages. Be respectful of their time by keeping your note short and to the point.

Lastly, offer something of true value. Don’t just try to sell someone something. Try to give back. People will appreciate hearing from you more if they know that you really care.

That is it for now. Be well!
