Is your computer password weak? PCMag.com gave a list of the 10 most common passwords that people use to protect their information online. After taking a look at the list it is easy to understand how simple it is for the bad guys to get into your online accounts.

As for you, my intelligent reader, please tell me that you are protecting your information with passwords that are more difficult to guess then the word “password.”

Some basic tips when selecting a password are:

1. Choose a password that only you would know.
2. Do not share your password with anyone else.
3. Where applicable, passwords should include a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. An example would be %43strdg.
4. Make a policy of changing your password periodically.
5. Do not write your password down, or if you must, keep it in a safe place away from your computer.

We don’t want you to be a victim, so follow the link to http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2113976,00.asp to see the other 9 passwords not to use.

It’s a crazy world out there in cyberland. Be safe!

This past week I had the opportunity to listen to Jennifer Henry of Liberty Mutual give an excellent presentation on stress management. In the spirit of sharing, I thought I would pass along some of the observations and tips that she gave during her presentation.

Those of you who know me personally, probably know that I belong to a professional networking group called BNI (Business Networking International). The chapter I belong to is called The Sound BNI and it is located in Branford, CT.

In a nutshell, each BNI chapter has one professional for each occupation. The chapter members then act as an outside sales force and bring referrals for each other once a week.

Just like in the corporate world, you begin to develop tight working relationships with each of the fellow members in your chapter.

For our firm Rosen Professional Services (www.rospro.com) membership has definitely had its privileges. We can trace more than 25% of our business growth back to our membership in The Sound BNI.

So why am I sharing this with you? The Sound BNI is hosting a Visitor Day on May 11, 2007. This event will take place during our regularly scheduled Friday morning meeting from 8:00 am to 9:30 am.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet a diverse group of top notch, local professionals. Additionally, guests will have the opportunity to see the BNI process in action. This is an excellent opportunity to network and connect with other professionals in the New Haven County business community.

This event will take place at the Parthenon Diner located at:
374 East Main Street in Branford, Connecticut.

From the I-95 take exit 55. The Diner is 1/10th of a mile north on the left side.

For more information please do not hesitate to call me at (203) 404-3974.

Hope to see you there!

From time to time, people write in asking us various financial questions. While all the user disclaimers apply and you should consult with your CPA, financial advisor and/or attorney before taking any action, we will present the first Q&A here.

Question:
I have some revolving credit debt on high interest credit cards that I would like to pay off using a zero interest or low interest credit card.

I have an application from Chase offering 0% until May of 2008 and I have a an offer from Discover offering 3.9% on balance transfers until 2010.

Which would be the better card to use for paying down the debt?

Thanks,

M.S.
